We have been testing and documenting systems for over 10 years. We know that no system can ever be fully tested or fully documented. But good procedures can go a very long way - if from the beginning you plan for them. Not just checking the known functions, but checking for the stupid things that people do as well.

Testing

Depending at what stage we are called in we will set up:

  • Repeatable test scripts of system functionality
  • Known and documented test databases.
  • Validation tests to show the system catches what it should catch
  • "Idiot" and "Hacker" tests to check out the systems stability and resilience.

We won't just test your system, we'll make sure you can go on testing new software on it long after we have gone.

Documentation

  • Your software support man has disappeared in dubious circumstances, taking all the support knowledge with him, and what's worse the master password as well.
  • Full documentation for the project was produced, but on the night of the party to celebrate going live, someone put it down somewhere and can't remember where.
  • Or maybe it was just the "Programmer from Hell" who thought documentation was for wimps, and if it was hard to write it should be hard to maintain.

These aren't fictional examples. They are all situations we have found when called in to a project. If your project software is a disorganised mess we will:

  • Clean up and complete your documentation
  • Trace and identify your program sources
  • Generate proper test files
  • Set up release and maintainance procedures
  • Identify and remove the rubbish and out of date files, (after backing them up - just in case)
